Broc Feeney's strategic prowess shone through as he clinched victory in Race 6 of the Supercars Championship held at Albert Park on March 7, 2026. This win not only marked a significant moment for Feeney but also propelled him to the top of the championship standings.
"It was a hard-fought victory, and I’m pleased with how the team performed today," said Feeney, driving for Triple Eight Ford. His impressive finish saw him outpace Brodie Kostecki by a mere 0.1447 seconds, making the race a nail-biter right down to the finish.
Completing the top four were Cam Waters and Kai Allen, all within a second of each other. The race, initially scheduled for 19 laps, was cut short after just 15 laps due to two Safety Car interventions, making it clear that the competition was tight.
The first Safety Car incident involved a collision between former teammates Jack Le Brocq and Cooper Murray, reminiscent of previous race mishaps at Turn 11. Murray's misfortune led to another frustrating situation for him as he was left stranded in the gravel. "You never like to see that type of incident, especially between teammates," commented Murray, reflecting on the race aftermath.
The second Safety Car was triggered by Ryan Wood's contact with Thomas Randle at Turn 5. This move did not pay off for Wood, who received a 30-second penalty that dropped him from 10th to 18th place. Randle, on the other hand, faced his own challenges after his collision with the barriers.
"It was a tough day out there, but we’ll regroup and come back stronger," said Randle after the race.
Will Brown’s struggles continued as he finished in 21st place following an incident while battling for fourth position late in the race. "It’s been a tough season, no doubt, and I hope we can turn things around soon," Brown stated, expressing his hopes for better outcomes in upcoming events.
As Race 6 unfolded, pre-race delays during F1 qualifying caused the race to start 20 minutes late, consequently pushing the time-certain finish point back in line. Feeney quickly established his dominance, cutting directly across Aaron Cameron’s path into Turn 1 to retain his leading position. As the chaos ensued behind him, a three-wide situation involving several racers led to contact that sent cars off-track.
The race intensified as Feeney maintained his lead, showing remarkable skill over the subsequent laps, particularly during the restarts. "Every restart is a chance to gain or lose positions, and we managed to hold our ground effectively," Feeney remarked on his on-track strategy.
With Kostecki challenging him for the second position, the battle remained fierce throughout. After the second restart, Feeney successfully created a gap, demonstrating his ability to navigate through tremendous pressure.
"I’m pleased with the way we executed our strategy today," Kostecki noted after the race. "It was a tough fight, but we’re learning and growing with each race."
Looking ahead, the Supercars Championship will continue to develop as drivers prepare for the next round, with Feeney aiming to maintain his lead. The excitement surrounding the championship is palpable, and fans can look forward to more intense competition in the upcoming races.
