Robert Shwartzman

Born on September 16, 1999, in Tel Aviv, Israel, Robert Mikhailovich Shwartzman holds dual Israeli and Russian nationality. He was raised between Saint Petersburg and Italy, a multicultural upbringing that would later serve him well in his international racing career.

Tragedy struck the Shwartzman family in 2020 when Robert's father, Mikhail Shwartzman, passed away during what would prove to be a pivotal year in the young driver's career as he began his ascent through the junior formula ranks.

Shwartzman's path to the top level of motorsport was marked by consistent excellence in junior formulae. His breakthrough came in 2018 when he captured the Toyota Racing Series championship, establishing himself as a driver to watch.

The following year proved even more significant as Shwartzman dominated the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship, claiming the title and earning recognition from one of motorsport's most prestigious academies. His performances caught the attention of Ferrari, who inducted him into their renowned Driver Academy program.

Shwartzman's progression continued in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, where he competed for two seasons in 2020 and 2021. His consistency was evident as he improved from fourth place in his debut season to runner-up the following year, cementing his reputation as one of the sport's rising talents.

His association with Ferrari deepened when he was appointed as a reserve driver for the Formula One team, a role he held from 2021 to 2024. This position provided invaluable experience at the pinnacle of motorsport while he continued to develop his racing career.

In a significant career move, Shwartzman transitioned to American open-wheel racing, joining Prema Racing's IndyCar program. He now pilots the No. 83 Chevrolet in the IndyCar Series, representing Prema Racing's expansion into one of motorsport's most competitive championships.
