"There's definitely pressure being the hometown guy," Della Maddalena said. "I try not to focus too much on the outcome — just focusing on going out there and putting on a good performance, a performance I can be proud of."
The lightweight co-main puts veteran contender Beneil Dariush opposite rising Australian Quillan Salkilld in a fight that carries significant top-15 implications. Dariush has long been one of the most reliable problem-solvers at 155 pounds, and a clean win moves him back into the conversation for a top-five opponent.
Elsewhere on the main card, Tim Elliott meets Steve Erceg at flyweight in a bout that promises a stylistic clash between the American's top-control wrestling and the Australian's southpaw movement. Heavyweight content arrives in two forms. Shamil Gaziev faces Brando Pericic in a fight that should reward whichever man can establish range first; both men are heavy hitters with credible finishing equity.
The more emotional heavyweight bout, however, is Tai Tuivasa's return on home soil. The Sydney-born fighter, who has lost six in a row and faces serious questions about his future at the top of the division, was originally booked against Sean Sharaf.
