Natus Vincere are the Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta 2026 champions after one of the most dramatic grand finals in recent Counter-Strike 2 memory, defeating wildcard finalists GamerLegion in an overtime decider that turned on the marksmanship of Bit and the late-round composure of Wonderful.
For four maps the series had swung between disciplined NAVI executes and ferocious wildcard counter-attacks from a GamerLegion side that had not been expected to even reach the semifinals. The fifth and deciding map went to regulation tied 12-12 before NAVI's veterans took over.
NAVI captain Aleksib had set the tone in pre-match interviews, acknowledging that GamerLegion had earned NAVI's respect over a North American stretch in which their styles had collided repeatedly. "He spent a good amount of time practicing with them during this North American stretch of the season," the official broadcast caller relayed in-game. "He even felt like that kind of experience against NAVI constantly helped them raise their game a little bit, raise their level. So GamerLegion kind of going up against the masters according to Aleksib."
The pivot of the series was a textbook NAVI fake on the upper bomb site that drew the entire GamerLegion roster away from the lower site. "This is all I mean, this is kind of a — it feels like a fake," the analyst desk noted on broadcast. "They want to go up the vents and it's working perfectly. Everyone from GamerLegion has been lured to this lower bomb site. There's no defence anywhere on the map. Great sense from NAVI."
The call paid off. With seconds remaining in regulation, Bit found the opening kill that broke GamerLegion's hold on the round, sending NAVI to overtime with momentum at their backs. He would finish the map with a series of late-round contributions that drew immediate comparisons to the early peak of his career.
In overtime, GamerLegion's lifeline came from PR — the youngest player on the team — who pulled off back-to-back acrobatic plays to keep the wildcard side breathing. "It is doable here for PR. He's got the health, he's got the utility, and he's certainly got the skills," the desk noted. "This young rifler looking to win a big round in overtime in the grand final."
But NAVI's experience would not be denied. Bit found another opening kill at a critical moment, drawing a now-traditional acknowledgement from his teammates that he had become the player to back. "Bit never has to take another fight again," the caller noted in mid-round. The closing moments were vintage NAVI execution: Talson — GamerLegion's last man — falling on the lower bomb site to seal the championship.
"And NAVI will prevail in Atlanta, Georgia," the closing call rang out. "They say it doesn't matter if you don't beat Vitality. Well, NAVI have, and now they've won it all. NAVI setting themselves up so well. They've got their first notch on the newest ESL Grand Slam. And it is the major. That's the conversation. That's the goal in their sights. In a world dominated by Vitality, we have begged for a challenger. At the final stop before the world championships of Counter-Strike, it is NAVI who have stepped forth and now they will step to the front of the stage. They will enter Cologne as your champions. The Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta champions, NAVI!"
The win is far more than a single trophy. NAVI had been chasing Team Vitality's stranglehold on the top of the CS2 rankings for the better part of a year, and by punching through their longtime rivals earlier in the bracket — and then closing out a series of NA-based regional contenders — they have now thrust themselves into the conversation for the looming Counter-Strike Major in Cologne. With every other stop on the ESL Grand Slam track already behind them, an Atlanta crown also opens the door to a US$1 million bonus should they string together the next two events on the calendar.
For GamerLegion, the silver-medal performance is a stunning launch into the upper bracket of the CS2 ecosystem. After being seeded as a play-in side, they emerged from the lower bracket with wins over Vitality and FaZe before pushing NAVI to a tournament-defining fifth map. PR, Talson and the team's young core can now lay claim to being the new wildcard threat the scene has been waiting for.
