SAN ROQUE, Spain – Talor Gooch shared a memorable moment with his supporters on Sunday as he secured victory at LIV Golf Andalucía, denying Jon Rahm a second consecutive title sweep for Spanish captains. Gooch's solid performance helped his team, Legion XIII, clinch their third title this season and their seventh overall, overcoming Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC in a closely contested match at the Real Club Valderrama.

While Rahm previously mirrored Garcia's individual title success, he came up just a stroke short this time. Gooch showcased his prowess by finishing with a 1-under 70, resulting in a total score of 8 under, which awarded him his second LIV Golf championship in only three appearances at Valderrama.

Gooch's latest win brought his personal trophy count to an impressive 13, outpacing any other player in LIV Golf history. This tally includes four individual wins, seven team victories across different teams, one Team Championship in 2022 with 4Aces GC, and the 2023 Individual Championship while playing for RangeGoats GC.
"That’s a pretty cool stat," Gooch remarked. "I didn’t know I had the most trophies on LIV. I’ll be sure to let everyone know in JCB [at LIV Golf UK] that that’s the case."

The road to victory was not without challenges for Gooch, who struggled with a shaky start for a second day in a row. After an errant drive resulted in a bogey on the first hole, his lead was quickly reduced with another bogey at the sixth. However, he managed to stabilize his round with birdies on the 7th and 11th holes.
While Gooch maintained control, Rahm, who started the day six shots behind, was playing remarkably and managed to close the gap. After Rahm birdied the par-4 14th and Gooch bogeyed the same hole, they found themselves tied at six under. Gooch, however, regained his lead almost immediately with a crucial 19-foot birdie putt.
Both competitors birdied the tricky par-5 17th hole, placing Rahm in a position where he needed to create a birdie opportunity on the final hole to potentially force a playoff. Instead, he had to navigate a tough situation, settling for a layup after a wayward tee shot and scrambling to secure par.
“It’s a shame it wasn’t for birdie," Rahm expressed. He was nonetheless proud of his final-round score of 6-under 65, which tied for the best of the day and marked his best performance ever at Valderrama.
