iRacing has joined forces with DTM to introduce the iRacing DTM Series, set to kick off in 2026. This new series is designed to bring the exhilarating environment of DTM racing to a broader audience, allowing the iRacing community to compete in virtual realms while matching the real-life DTM schedule.
"This series opens the thrill of DTM racing to the entire iRacing userbase with globally accessible start times," stated an iRacing spokesperson. The connection between the new series and the calendar of the real-world Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) promises to enhance the authenticity and excitement of the racing experience.
The iRacing DTM Series will consist of eight rounds, deliberately staged just before each real-world DTM race. Events are scheduled for Thursday evenings, geared toward accommodating players across various time zones, with races beginning at 8 PM in AEDT, CET, ET, and PT time zones.
Fans can look forward to a full lineup of iconic racing venues. The series schedule includes:
- April 23: Red Bull Ring - May 21: Circuit Zandvoort - June 18: Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps - July 2: Brands Hatch Circuit - July 23: Motorsport Arena Oschersleben - August 13: Nürburgring Grand-Prix-Strecke - September 10: Sachsenring - October 8: Hockenheimring
"With the exciting mix of top young drivers and global racing legends, DTM has seen substantial growth since adopting GT3 regulations in 2021," said a DTM representative. This growth is reflected in the field sizes and the diversity of talent competing in the series, both in real life and in virtual racing.
The races in the iRacing DTM Series will replicate the 55-minute timed format of actual DTM events, enhancing the competitive spirit and strategy. Each race will be conducted using the same vehicles as those in the 2026 DTM season, incorporating a limited fuel tank to promote strategic pit stops.
"Many of DTM’s premier cars and tracks are already in use on iRacing by our passionate global user base," the spokesperson noted, highlighting the seamless integration of content that fans are eager to experience.
For racing enthusiasts and gamers alike, this collaboration between iRacing and DTM stands as a testament to the growing popularity and appeal of sim racing. As the virtual racing landscape expands, the addition of the iRacing DTM Series not only enriches the gaming community but also bridges the connection between virtual simulations and real-world motorsport.
