Ferrari has made a strategic move in bolstering its leadership by confirming the recruitment of Jerome d’Ambrosio and Loic Serra from Mercedes. This comes as part of a significant organizational shift aimed at enhancing the team's performance as they gear up for future challenges.
"Jerome d’Ambrosio will join Ferrari as their Deputy Team Principal after departing his role as head of Mercedes’ young driver programme," said Ferrari’s communications team. D’Ambrosio's transition comes as he takes over responsibilities directly under team principal Fred Vasseur, who believes that the combination of skills these new appointments bring will fortify the team’s competitive edge.
The appointment of D’Ambrosio is particularly noteworthy as he makes a parallel move to that of Mercedes' star driver, Lewis Hamilton, who is also expected to transition from Brackley to Maranello in the coming year. Alongside D’Ambrosio, the team also welcomes Loic Serra, the previous performance director at Mercedes, who is set to take on a critical role as Head of Chassis Performance Engineering.

D’Ambrosio, born in Belgium in 1985, boasts a rich racing background, highlighted by his victories in the GP2 series and numerous successes in Formula E. His experience encompasses 20 Formula 1 Grand Prix races from 2011 to 2012, where he drove for Virgin Racing and Lotus, showcasing his robust credentials in the motorsport arena.
Prior to his role at Mercedes in 2023, where he served as Director of Driver Development, D’Ambrosio was Team Principal at Venturi Racing, an experience that adds to his already impressive resume. His leadership skills are expected to shine through as he oversees the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, aiming to cultivate the next generation of driving talent.

Serra brings a wealth of expertise, having previously held significant roles not just at Mercedes, but also with Michelin and the BMW-Sauber team.
