The 2025 Google Cloud São Paulo E-Prix marked an eventful round in the Formula E season, characterized by two Safety Car deployments and a late Red Flag, yet the race remained within its 30-lap limit. The day culminated in victory for Jake Dennis, solidifying his team's status within the championship as he displayed both skill and strategy on the track.
With this win, Dennis claimed his seventh Formula E victory, bringing his career tally to 24 podiums. "We started in Pole Position and claimed the race win; what a day!" exclaimed Dennis. "Didn’t expect to be getting these points so early on in the season, but happy to be back to winning ways."
The Andretti team celebrated their 12th Formula E win and marked multiple milestones, including their 37th race led and 40th podium. Notably, Dennis led for eight laps, pushing his total laps led to an impressive 454 throughout his career.

Qualifying set the stage for a thrilling race. Dennis advanced through the group stages, initially losing pole position to Pascal Wehrlein. However, fortune favored him after Wehrlein received a three-grid drop penalty for wheelspinning in the pit lane, allowing Dennis to take the top spot. "It’s been a while since Jeddah, so I’m just super happy for myself and for the team. A lot of hard work through the winter from all of us and we’ve been rewarded with a win," Dennis remarked post-race.
On the other side of the garage, Felipe Drugovich faced his share of challenges, demonstrating promising speed in qualifying with a purple first sector before a misstep at Turn 4 derailed his progress. "It’s a shame because I felt really competitive," Drugovich reflected.
In the race, Drugovich initially adopted a conservative pace, aimed at conserving energy. This strategy paid off as he later activated Attack Modes, propelling him into fifth position temporarily. Unfortunately, two penalties handed down post-race ultimately dropped him out of the points. "First of all, congrats to the team. As we’ve seen today, we have pace, and that’s really great to see as we head into the season," said Drugovich.
Hampered by penalties, Drugovich was unable to capitalize on his impressive performance, starting from 17th but not finishing in the points. He expressed both optimism and frustration: "There is still plenty we can work on and new things for me to learn over the next few races, but overall I’m happy."
Amid Dennis's remarkable comeback, the race unfolded with tactical brilliance. After experiencing a setback, Dennis's off-sequence Attack Mode strategy allowed him to regain the lead on Lap 26. His ability to control the one-lap restart proved pivotal as he secured first place. "Deploying my final Attack Mode on Lap 26 helped me get back into the lead after initially losing position," he stated.
While Dennis celebrated at the front, the race offered a lesson in resilience for Drugovich, who dealt with the aftermath of attempting to recover from a tight spot. His strategy of conserving energy during the early laps and executing a late surge was evident, showing the potential that he could harness moving forward.
