Club 520 Lights Up The Wolves And Knicks: 'Anthony Edwards Got The Super Serum'

5 May 2026 4 min readBy NBA News Global

Jeff Teague's Club 520 podcast spent the morning unpacking the two biggest Game 1s of the semifinals — Anthony Edwards' 48-hour return for the Wolves and the Knicks' 39-point demolition of Joel Embiid's Sixers.

Key Takeaways

  • 1.The All-NBA guard hyperextended his knee on Sunday, was a heavy doubt for Game 1, and ended up giving Minnesota 18 points and 25 minutes.
  • 2."Surprising return for Anthony Edwards, man.
  • 3.18 points, 11 crucial buckets in the fourth.

Jeff Teague hosted his Club 520 Podcast at 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning still buzzing about the previous night's basketball. The Minnesota Timberwolves had stolen Game 1 from the San Antonio Spurs, the New York Knicks had buried the Philadelphia 76ers by 39, and the panel — Teague, Bishop, Moo and DJ Wells — could not decide which result was more shocking.

The Wolves story started with Anthony Edwards' return. The All-NBA guard hyperextended his knee on Sunday, was a heavy doubt for Game 1, and ended up giving Minnesota 18 points and 25 minutes. Teague did not bother with surprise.

"Surprising return for Anthony Edwards, man. That boy got the super serum. He came back yesterday. 18 points, 11 crucial buckets in the fourth. Set the tone for sure," Teague said.

Julius Randle was the second name Teague called.

"I was surprised to see Ant back, but his presence alone is impactful. We were questioning Julius Randle, double double 21 and 10. He showed up yesterday, man. My boy going to crash the glass," Teague said.

The panel pivoted to the Spurs and were not generous. Wembanyama posted his 12 blocks and a triple-double-adjacent line, but his 11-point night left the show wanting more from the franchise centerpiece.

"Roughing up Wemby, bro. Making it hard on him, he had 11 points. He's the best player. We're going to need at least 20 from me, bro. Damn. Like they locked him up. It was physical," Teague said.

De'Aaron Fox drew the heaviest criticism for the night.

"De'Aaron Fox got to be a lot better. He will be. The blame going Wemby not shooting the ball at the end of the game. You got to be aggressive. He's the best player I ever seen. You got to come down the clutch. I don't care if you're having a horrible game. You're the best player on the floor, bro," Teague said.

The panel agreed the geographical shift to Minnesota — and Edwards arriving in something closer to full health — flips the series math.

"It's only Game 1. Now Timberwolves got the home court advantage now. Yeah, Timberwolves stole one in San Antonio. That's a hell of a win. With Anthony Edwards back," Teague said.

The Knicks' 137-98 dismantling of Joel Embiid's Sixers was the second segment, and it was less of a debate. Brunson dropped 35. OG Anunoby contributed 18. Karl-Anthony Towns posted 17 and six. Even with limited fourth-quarter minutes, the Knicks were already calling for the bench.

"Ass Jaylen Brunson 35 points, man. OG had 18. Cat 17 and 6. Limited minutes for the Knicks yesterday. They got a lot of rest. They beat their ass early yesterday," Teague said.

The panel was particularly entertained by the broadcast crew's running commentary on Sixers coverages.

"The commentators, like, they need to put a taller defender on him. They're switching defenders so he can contest his shot and contest his mid-range shot. And then he hit one right over each one of the defenders. That second quarter, didn't matter who was there. Brunson was insane," Teague said.

Quentin Grimes was the surprise call-out from the show. He earned the panel's most valuable Knick designation for his energy off the bench.

The Embiid critique was blunt. The panel argued his lateral movement is now a non-factor on defence, and that Towns and Brunson kept attacking him because the math worked.

"Embiid in his stomach, it was over. He can't move. He can't. He is a statue, man," Teague said.

The Brunson superstar debate also resurfaced. Bishop pushed back on the idea that the Knicks point guard belongs in the same tier as the league's top names. Teague stood his ground.

"For sure. I respect it 100%. Play on the Knicks, bro. That's all you see is Jalen Brunson. Just because he's quiet and more humble, people don't want to give him that tag. But no, he's a superstar for sure," Teague said.

A Brunson-versus-Cade Cunningham debate followed and ended in a stalemate. The bigger pick was settled. With Edwards back and the Knicks suddenly looking like the East's most complete team, Club 520 left their Tuesday morning show convinced of two things — Minnesota is now a problem, and the Knicks have arguably saved their best basketball for the round when it counts.
