Jeongwoo Ham carried a two-shot lead into the weekend of the 2026 Singapore Open on Friday, the Korean posting 10-under through 36 holes at Sentosa Golf Club's Serapong Course and leaving LIV Golf's Legion XIII standout Caleb Surratt to mount a weekend chase from five shots back.
Ham, 21, attributed his position at the top of the International Series leaderboard to clutch putting rather than elite striking. "At critical moments I made the putts and made use of the chances," Ham said. "My irons weren't as good, my accuracy not great but I think I made putts at critical moments."
Surratt, the 21-year-old former United States Walker Cup player who signed with Jon Rahm's Legion XIII franchise as a LIV Golf wild card, was in the tied sixth position after a second round of 2-under 69. The American ballstriker is one of five LIV Golf contracted players who used the International Series co-sanctioned event to sharpen their form during the week between LIV Golf Mexico City and LIV Golf Virginia.
Alongside Surratt, Fireballs GC's Luis Masaveu shared 10th at 4-under, with RangeGoats GC veteran Peter Uihlein sitting tied 19th after a 3-under total. Fireballs' Josele Ballester was tied 28th at 2-under, while Swedish wild card Björn Hellgren was alongside Masaveu in a share of 10th place.
The Serapong layout has yielded plenty of birdie opportunities through two rounds, with soft greens and benign morning winds through the first 36 holes giving aggressive iron play a chance to feed scoring. Ham, playing in a marquee grouping alongside several Asian Tour regulars, exploited the conditions through the middle of both rounds before tidying up a strong front nine with a closing run of three late birdies in four holes on Friday.
The Singapore Open sits on the Asian Tour and International Series co-sanctioned schedule and offers Official World Golf Ranking points, an element that has become important to LIV Golf players who otherwise do not accrue points through their league events. For players such as Surratt and Uihlein, a win or a high finish at Sentosa can meaningfully shift world ranking trajectory and, by extension, eligibility for future major championships.
The cut fell at 2-under, underlining how aggressive the scoring has been through 36 holes, and several LIV Golf players who had hoped to use the week as a tune-up were caught out by the low numbers. Legion XIII team-mate Tom McKibbin and the reigning Singapore Open champion were among those missing the weekend, reinforcing the jump in standard between LIV Golf's 54-hole no-cut format and a traditional Asian Tour cut-line event.
For Surratt, the challenge is to string together a weekend of low rounds and apply pressure on Ham and the chasing pack, which includes several seasoned Asian Tour winners. Two clean rounds in the low 60s could put him in position for what would be the biggest week of his young career, with the added benefit of a LIV Golf showcase in front of an international broadcast audience.
The Singapore Open continues through the weekend with third-round coverage beginning Saturday morning local time from Sentosa.
