In California, the third round of the JM Eagle LA Championship featured some ups and downs for French golfer Céline Boutier, who struggled to maintain her momentum. Though she had a promising start, recording three birdies in her first seven holes, Boutier’s performance faltered as she finished with a score of 71, placing her in 42nd at four under par for the tournament.
Boutier, who was the only French player to make the cut, could not capitalize on her strong beginning. After a solid front nine, the 29-year-old faced setbacks on the back nine, where she made two bogeys. As a result, she is now six strokes away from the top 10, which continues to elude her.
At the top of the leaderboard, Sei Young Kim maintained her commanding position despite also posting a score of 71. The South Korean golfer is currently leading the tournament at 15 under par. Kim briefly held a seven-stroke advantage during the day but will go into the final round with a slimmer margin. She will face a tighter challenge from a group of competitors, including Suvichaya Vinijchaitham, Hannah Green, Ina Yoon, and Jessica Porvasnik, all tied at 13 under par.
Meanwhile, across the border in Mexico, Victor Perez’s fortunes on the LIV Tour took a downturn. After starting strong and securing a top-10 position on day one, Perez's game unraveled during his third round. He carded a 74, with three birdies offset by six bogeys, bringing him down to a tie for 22nd place at four under par overall.
The Tarbais golfer's inconsistency has become apparent as he dealt with challenges throughout the round. Jon Rahm, the current leader after a comeback round filled with five birdies from 11 to 17, is at 14 under par. Rahm, who has already claimed victory this year in Hong Kong, is being closely pursued by Tyrrell Hatton, sitting two shots behind at 12 under par.
As the LIV tournament progresses, Rahm offered insights into his experience on the course, stating, "I felt really good. Started off great those first two holes. Even a great tee shot on 3, which is hard to do." His performance reflects the ups and downs of the game, as he faced challenges in predicting shifting winds on the course, particularly in the later holes. "The wind started switching, so there were a few shots... it’s just not the easiest trying to guess," Rahm noted, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the game.
With the final rounds of both tournaments approaching, players like Boutier and Perez will need to dig deep and find their best form to finish strong. Fans will be eager to see how these French golfers respond after their recent struggles, as the competition heats up in both the LPGA and LIV events.
