Lando Norris from McLaren secured sixth position with a time of 1m33.008s, showing continued consistency for his team. Behind him, Yuki Tsunoda for Visa Cash App RB F1 Team completed qualifying in seventh place, indicating strong performance from the junior team.
Oscar Piastri, also from McLaren, landed in eighth position, while Nico Hulkenberg drove a solid session for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, finishing ninth. "We're steadily improving and looking to capitalize on any opportunities during the race," Hulkenberg remarked.
Lewis Hamilton struggled after scoring only 10th on the grid with a time of 1m48.106s in Q3. He admitted, "It wasn’t the result I was hoping for, but we still have a race to compete in."
The cut-off for Q2 saw Esteban Ocon of BWT Alpine finish in 11th place, and Kevin Magnussen for MoneyGram Haas followed closely in 12th. The midfield battle continues to heat up, with Zhou Guanyu in 13th and Franco Colapinto from Williams Racing in 14th.
Newer drivers are also adapting well to the challenges of 2024; for instance, Liam Lawson from Visa Cash App RB F1 Team finished 15th, demonstrating potential in a competitive environment.
